Etela Lovi and her youngest son, Jackie Friedman, in the 1930s

Etela Lovi’s two sons were born in Antwerp, the oldest, Frans in 1931, the youngest, Jackie, in 1933. All three were arrested in Antwerp the day before the first raid on 15 August 1942. Jews of Romanian nationality, the mother and her two children were placed on Transport 3. As the immediate execution rate for Transport 3 was 64%, this mother (34) and her two young children (11 and 9) would have had very little chance of surviving the selection process. All three disappeared without a trace.
