The Lipschitz family

Although Polish in origin Rachel Mandel recta Kwadrat and Israel Isaak Lipschitz were second generation immigrants. They were both born in Antwerp.

Although Polish in origin Rachel Mandel recta Kwadrat and Israel Isaak Lipschitz were second generation immigrants. They were both born in Antwerp, Israel in 1922 and Rachel in 1923. Israel Isaak Lipschitz was arrested first and arrived in the Dossin Barracks on 24 January 1943. Rachel Mandel recta Kwadrat arrived on the 27th. After six months in the Sammellager, they were eventually put down for Transport 21, which was to leave on 31 July. The day before they left, they were secretly married by an imprisoned rabbi. Upon arrival at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Rachel, 19, and Israel Isaak, 20, disappeared without a trace.
