Maria Froman

Maria Froman, a tailor from Poland, arrived in Belgium, alone and heavily pregnant, in July 1927. She settled in Antwerp and barely a month later, gave birth to her son Albert  whom she raised on her own. When the little boy was three, mother and son left Belgium to settle in France. Maria and Albert were in Bagnolet at the beginning of the German occupation in 1940. They were arrested at some point and interned at Beaune-la-Rolande. Maria (54) and Albert (14) Froman were deported from the camp via Transport 15 to Auschwitz-Birkenau on 5 August 1942. Neither survived deportation. Mother and son both died under unknown circumstances.
