Marianne Wolf, a housewife, lived in Amsterdam, where her husband ran a commercial agency, until 1938. Following the couple’s divorce, she moved to the Brussels suburb of Ixelles. Her parents and her sister Margaretha, had already lived for several years in the Belgian capital. When the Germans invaded Belgium on 10 May 1940, Marianne and Margaretha fled to France. They settled in Arcachon, but were arrested and interned at Poitiers. The sisters were transferred on 2 March 1942 to the Sanatorium des Pins in Lamotte-Beuvron – an internment camp for Jews administered by the French military police. The Jewish prisoners remained there until the end of July 1942, when they were moved to Pithiviers. Marianne (37) and Margaret (39) Wolf were deported from there on 3 August 1942 via Transport 14 to Auschwitz-Birkenau. They did not survive deportation and there is no further record of them after their arrival.
